Introduction to 3D Design

This is a fundamental course with an emphasis on means of construction, analysis of materials and structural examinations that support conceptual development of 3 dimensional art. With emphasis placed on characterizing the elements and principles of design and how they each integrate to form fully realized works of 3D art.

The purpose of this assignment was to create a wire sculpture of a human figure in action using asymmetrical balance. I achieved that by creating a dancing ballerina sculpture. By having only one leg on the “floor” this is what creates the asymmetry.

The purpose of this assignment was to create a decorative bas relief clay tile using polymer clay that incorporates a type of balance, and should have at least three distinct levels of depth. I included two types of balance in my tile, radial with the sunflower, and symmetrical with the butterfly. I achieved the levels of depth by building up from my base tile with my base tile being level one, the flower being level two, and the butterfly as level three.

The purpose of this assignment was to contrast curvilinear and rectilinear planes while integrating texture to create a three dimensional robot out of cardboard or poster board. I took inspiration from a robot off of a childhood cartoon that I used to watch when I was a child. I made my robot out of poster board because it was the easiest to mend of the two options. I also created texture in the curved cylindrical piece for a more robotic feel.
